Lina had an 8-step complicated skincare regime complete with active ingredients to keep her oily prone skin in check.
Now she’s down to 2-3 easy steps and getting all the results she wanted when using ‘all those’ products. Her skin is healthy looking, plump and hydrated, without all the skincare actives.
This is Lina’s story…
“I was focusing on what I was eating and trying to be more conscious about the pesticides that were in my food and in eating organic foods.
And then I thought, “Oh, I wonder what I’m putting on my face? …and my creams and all that?”
I didn’t have particularly problematic skin.
I think I’ve always had oily skin, but never to the point where I’ve had really bad acne or really bad pores or anything like that.
…and I could feel a little bit of redness sometimes, but nothing drastic
I was just more conscious about what I was putting on it…
I wanted to simplify my skincare, reduce suspicious chemicals, but still get glowing skin.
I was using a range of different things.
A harsh face wash, oil-free products and I had complicated routines.
I was doing double cleansing. Alternating times I was doing a chemical exfoliator.
Lots of different creams …so using Sunday Riley Medik8, Doctor.
And a lot of them had active ingredients for oily prone skin that I didn’t realise I was mixing and probably not great for my skin (things like salicylic acid, lactic acid and vitamin C)
Then I would do an eye cream, a serum…I can’t even remember all of the steps now, but it was really overwhelming. I needed to set aside half an hour for just my night time routine.
So I started reading and looking at some of apps …you look up a product and it tells you what chemicals are in your food and products, and if they’re banned in certain countries and not others.
( – like the “Think Dirty, Shop Clean” and the “Chemical Maze” app – )
As soon as I started using Ecology, my skin just started feeling nicer, and it was more plump.
And I was getting the results that I wanted from all those active ingredients and all those harsher chemicals… without using all of that”
How did you go with using a ‘rich’ cream on oily prone skin?
“Your brain tells you, “No, you shouldn’t. That, that doesn’t make sense. You should be drying up the oil.”
So it was more mental in the sense that I had to trust that I wasn’t adding more oil to my oily face
I saw a lot of the ‘How to Use’ videos where they’re like “Use just a little bit and warm it up in your skin and just pat it on.”
…so unlike my other creams where I would put a lot on. I was drastically, even almost quatering the amount… the amount that I was using.
Even my younger sisters who have oily skin, they started asking… “What are you using? Because your skin has been looking really, really lovely.”
And I’m like… “Oh, you should try this. Don’t worry about using lactic acids and things like that. Try this.”
What does your skincare routine look like now?
“So, now I’m just using the Konjac Sponge to wash my face.
And then sometimes if I am going out and I am wearing makeup, sunscreen, things like that… I’ll do a second cleanse with a foam cleanser.
And then (it’s very rare), if I’m having a breakout and I’ll put something like a breakout cream on a pimple,
Then I just put my Ecology Cream on and that’s it.
One cream for my whole body. A little goes a long way and it so hydrating
So I’ve gone to two to three steps now, where before I was using eight products. It was a lot more complicated.
I can do this with my son. It’s fine. It doesn’t have to be a ‘whole thing’.
My skin is glowing… I get compliments all the time. My family’s using it as well, just because everybody sees how great and easy it is.”

We are beyond happy for Lina and her sisters!
It’s such a massive win when you finally find something that helps balance oily prone skin and combination skin
(as well as fitting in your your ethos on reducing chemical exposure and using natural products)
Honestly, when it comes to oily prone skin… everyone’s different and it can really depend on what’s driving the oily skin
You might be wondering why the Ecology Creams have been so helpful for Lina…
It’s because the Ecology Creams are handmade with a little known ingredient called grass-fed tallow.
Grass-fed tallow is a gently rendered fat (like emu oil), but it comes from healthy, grass-fed cows
(so this isn’t for our vegan friends!)
Grass-fed tallow might be ‘little known’ now… but everyone from the Aboriginal Australians to our great grandmothers used to use traditional animal fats like tallow, for everything from burns and chafing to blisters and wound healing.
And the reason why grass-fed tallow is so amazing for skin?
- It really closely mimics fats and oils found naturally in healthy, youthful skin.
- It contains fat soluble vitamins A, D, E & K …all of which are crucial for healthy skin (some of these are also antioxidants)
- It’s balanced in omega 3’s and 6’s …both are important for healthy skin
So this means grass-fed tallow (along with the jojoba oil in the Ecology Creams) can help balance oil production and replace missing components in skin’s outer layer …keeping moisture IN and allergens and irritants OUT.
…which means grass-fed tallow can also help calm redness and leave skin looking plump, ‘healthy’ and well hydrated.
Like Lina, I have a drive to use natural products on my skin.
My super sensitive skin and skin issues are what led me to developing the Ecology Creams in the first place.
…I’d finally found something that worked well for me and I wanted to share it with others
