AUA joyful cube
This little cube of shampoo is amazing. I wash my hair everyday. I get in the shower, wet my hair, rub this little cube a few times in my hair, put it on a flannel to dry while I lather up my hair. My hair looks and feels great. It lasts and lasts. I will be buying again. xx
AUNice surprise
I was worried this would smell a bit beer-y but the only scent I got was a slight honey whiff which is quite pleasant. It lathers well and is a good size - good value for money. I felt like there was a slight residue left on my hair after but once I’d conditioned this went away.
AUBeer & Honey Shampoo Bar & Conditioner
Love this product. I've been using the shampoo bar and conditioner bar for about 2 months instead of a commercial shampoo & conditioner. My thinning hair feels so much softer and thicker and has a lovely shine. The bar is lasting quite well and I wash my hair 2 - 3 times a week. After rubbing the bar through my hair, it suds up quite well. The conditioner bar is easy to use as well, and detangles the hair. The only thing to be careful of - the bars are quite soft and need to dried away from the shower. A great product that I will continue to use.

All of the Beauty and the Bee shampoo bars are very gentle and moisturising compared to commercial shampoo.
…and they’re especially helpful for people with dry scalp, dandruff or eczema.

The herbs, honey, waxes, plant oils, mineral and clay ingredients used in the Beauty and the Bees products have been used by humans for centuries.
Each ingredient has been specifically chosen because it is natural and has a history of benefiting the body is some special way. Beauty and the Bees choose local products as often as they can to support our local industry and to reduce our impact on the environment. In addition organic and certified products are sourced whenever it is possible to do so.
Ingredients include Tasmania’s unique raw, unpasteurised Leatherwood honey, certified organic olive oil, coconut oil, raw castor oil, Leatherwood beeswax, and certified organic and bio dynamic Tasmanian herbs. These fine and pure ingredients leave hair glossy and shiny as well as gently cleanse the hair without stripping your head’s natural oils.
This helps hair retain moisture and condition.

The beer is brewed locally in Tasmania by small breweries, while the flecks of the Pride of Ringwood hops are from Bushy Park, Tasmania. The hops are intensely fragrant and have antiseptic benefits.
The colour of the bar directly reflects the essential oils, herbs, spices, flowers, fruits clays, honey and botanicals used to make it.

Cocos nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Tasmanian Beer, Oleo europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Helianthus annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Ricinus communis (Castor) Oil, Aqua (Water), Leatherwood Cera alba (Beeswax), Glycine soja (Soybean) Wax, Pyrus malus (Apple) Vinegar, Bixa orellana (Annatto) Powder, Humulus lupulus (Hop) Flower, Sodium lactate (derived from Cane Sugar), Leatherwood Mel (Honey), Fucus vesiculosus (Seaweed) Extract, Sapindus mukorossi (Soapnut) Extract
Directions for Use
- Wet your hair thoroughly with warm water.
- Moisten the bar and then rub it directly through your hair from scalp to ends, working up a thick lather with the pads of your fingers (do not use your fingernails)
OR Wet your hands with warm water and lather up by rubbing the bar between your hands. - Work the lather from your hands into your hair using the pads of your fingers (not your fingernails), massaging the scalp and hair roots and cleaning outward towards the ends.
- Rinse thoroughly with warm water until all of the shampoo lather is removed.
- Follow with a conditioner bar – rub the conditioner bar lightly in wet hands (it will not lather) and run hands through hair. Rinse well
Most people report positive results after just 1 – 2 washes.
However, 3 – 4 washes or more may be required to fully remove the silicone build up from commercial shampoos. During this time your hair may feel and look different. We call this FUNKY hair – the transition time as your hair gets used to a natural soap shampoo instead of a detergent.
AND, it has to be said, some people’s hair just does not like shampoo bars, but that is rare…
There are several common factors that can hinder great results, either individually or in combination with each other. These problems are answered in other questions but can include:
- Residue from the synthetic polymers/silicone that commercial shampoos leave in your hair
- Hard water
- Not rinsing properly or not using an acidulated/clarifying rinse after use
- Not using the right bar for your hair
- Poor shampooing technique
- You haven’t allowed enough time for the detox and adjustment phase
Your hair and scalp will take time to “detox” and adjust. Commercial detergent shampoos contain synthetic silicones that make the hair feel slippery and “nice”, but are derived from plastic petroleum derived polymers. These gel-like substances coat the hair and scalp.
In addition, SLS (Sodium Laureth Sulfate, a synthetic foaming agent) also strips away your natural protective conditioning oils (sebum) causing your scalp and hair to become dry. Your dry scalp now tries to compensate by producing more of its natural oil. Excess oil production escalates to compensate for the harsh shampoo and the vicious cycle begins….
By breaking this cycle with a gentle natural SOAP shampoo bar (not detergent) you will no longer have those chemicals stripping away the natural oils and drying out the hair and scalp. But it will take time for your scalp to re-balance its natural oil production. This usually happens quickly, but it can take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks and for some even longer. BE PATIENT and you will be rewarded with healthier hair and scalp.
Because shampoo bar soaps do not strip hair in the same way as detergent based shampoos, you may notice your freshly washed wet hair feels quite different to what you may be accustomed to: squeaky, with a slightly rough feel if the cuticle is sticking up. This is perfectly normal, and the Tasmanian Apple Cider & Herb Conditioning Rinse or Apple Silk Clarifying Rinse can be used to smooth the cuticles flat and shiny again. You’ll love how your hair feels after it dries: much softer and shinier.
Remember with a natural Shampoo – IT’S ALL GOOD IN THE END!!!
