Great product
I was so pleased with my first order I've gone back for more. My skin feels moisturised, balanced andrss reactive. And recently a friend commented on how good it's looking - so what better endorsement could you get?
AUHemp shampoo bar
Love it, I used to get an itchy scalp using on the shelf shampoo. This has all stopped since using the hemp shampoo bar. Also my hair isnt heavy and weighed down anymore, i actually get waves!!!! Highly recommend.
AUMy Haircare
Love this shampoo. Its nourishing & not harsh like others, Its one of my favourites.
AUNot for me
The ingredients in this shampoo bar are great and it smells nice however for my hair type (fine hair) it didn't work; leaving it feeling limp and needing a wash the next day. I have passed it onto my husband who with short cropped hair will find it useful.
AUVery good product
Very good I like how it doesn’t dry out my hair
AUHemp multi use bar
I've been very happy with this... not only use it on my.hair but as a cleanser on my face before I use my eco day night emu and olive moisturiser
AUSilky smooth hair
I wash my hair daily after swimming in salt water and I find my hair gets really soft and smooth using this shampoo bar. It’s great to use natural products. I won’t ever go back to using normal shampoos again. Plus this bar seems to last a lot longer than any others I’ve tried.
AUShampoo bar
I love the shampoo bar, it is easy to use, and leaves my hair so clean and fresh. I would definitely recommend the shampoo bar.
AUHappy Hemp Seed Oil and Honey Shampoo Bar
I love this product, I find that I don't need to use a conditioner either. It is such a good idea to be able to buy a sample before buying the full size. Very cost effective!

It is totally free from harsh synthetic detergents (e.g. SLS) that dry your hair and scalp.

Who is it for?
Everyone, but especially perfect for people with dandruff, eczema and / or very sensitive dry scalp and hair.
“I LOVE this shampoo! So creamy and leaves my hair beautifully soft, clean and without the itch factor and hair-loss I’d had with other shampoos. It has helped with dandruff – more than any other product, and one bar lasts for ages. As someone with MCS, I’m enormously grateful to find such quality in a truly unscented and natural product. THANKYOU!” ~ Rae
“The Hemp Shampoo bar was recommended to me by my hairdresser for a case of ongoing and severe cradle cap on my 4 year old niece. It cleared completely within 3 washes! Other products…had been used, but with no success. Sensitive skin runs in the family and after this fabulous result B&B’s products are being used successfully for 4 generations of my family, and 3 in my partners family. All have been amazed by the results achieved with the shampoo bars in particular, and I dare say will be used exclusively from now on. I like that you can achieve a ‘lather’ with the shampoo bars and soaps…” ~ Jen C
Product Description
These solid shampoo bars are traditionally handmade by Beauty and the Bees in Tasmania
All of the Beauty and the Bee shampoo bars are very gentle and moisturising compared to commercial shampoo.
…and they’re especially helpful for people with dry scalp, dandruff or eczema.
Users feed back that their colour ( chemical or natural ) is enriched and enhanced, and that they wash their hair far less.
- 100% natural and handmade
- Palm oil and chemical free
- Plastic free and low waste packaging
- Totally free of harsh synthetic detergents ( like Sodium Laureth Sulphate ) that dry hair and scalp and pollute waterways
- Great for those on grey water recycling systems as the shampoo bar are 100% biodegradeable and safe
The herbs, honey, waxes, plant oils, mineral and clay ingredients used in the Beauty and the Bees products have been used by humans for centuries.
Each ingredient has been specifically chosen because it is natural and has a history of benefiting the body is some special way. Beauty and the Bees choose local products as often as they can to support our local industry and to reduce our impact on the environment. In addition organic and certified products are sourced whenever it is possible to do so.
Ingredients include Tasmania’s unique raw, unpasteurised Leatherwood honey, certified organic olive oil, coconut oil, raw castor oil, Leatherwood beeswax, and certified organic and bio dynamic Tasmanian herbs. These fine and pure ingredients leave hair glossy and shiny as well as gently cleanse the hair without stripping your head’s natural oils.
This helps hair retain moisture and condition.
The colour of the bar directly reflects the essential oils, herbs, spices, flowers, fruits clays, honey and botanicals used to make it.
Ingredients:
Cocos nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Aqua (Water), Oleo europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Helianthus annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Ricinus communis (Castor) Oil, Cannabis sativa (Hemp) Seed Oil, Leatherwood Cera alba (Beeswax), Glycine soja (Soybean) Wax, Pyrus malus (Apple) Vinegar, Sodium lactate (derived from Cane Sugar), Leatherwood Mel (Honey), Fucus vesiculosus (Seaweed) Extract, Sapindus mukorossi (Soapnut) Extract
Directions for Use
- Wet your hair thoroughly with warm water.
- Moisten the bar and then rub it directly through your hair from scalp to ends, working up a thick lather with the pads of your fingers (do not use your fingernails)
OR Wet your hands with warm water and lather up by rubbing the bar between your hands. - Work the lather from your hands into your hair using the pads of your fingers (not your fingernails), massaging the scalp and hair roots and cleaning outward towards the ends.
- Rinse thoroughly with warm water until all of the shampoo lather is removed.
- Follow with a conditioner bar – rub the conditioner bar lightly in wet hands (it will not lather) and run hands through hair. Rinse well
Most people report positive results after just 1 – 2 washes.
However, 3 – 4 washes or more may be required to fully remove the silicone build up from commercial shampoos. During this time your hair may feel and look different. We call this FUNKY hair – the transition time as your hair gets used to a natural soap shampoo instead of a detergent.
AND, it has to be said, some people’s hair just does not like shampoo bars, but that is rare…
There are several common factors that can hinder great results, either individually or in combination with each other. These problems are answered in other questions but can include:
- Residue from the synthetic polymers/silicone that commercial shampoos leave in your hair
- Hard water
- Not rinsing properly or not using an acidulated/clarifying rinse after use
- Not using the right bar for your hair
- Poor shampooing technique
- You haven’t allowed enough time for the detox and adjustment phase
Your hair and scalp will take time to “detox” and adjust. Commercial detergent shampoos contain synthetic silicones that make the hair feel slippery and “nice”, but are derived from plastic petroleum derived polymers. These gel-like substances coat the hair and scalp.
In addition, SLS (Sodium Laureth Sulfate, a synthetic foaming agent) also strips away your natural protective conditioning oils (sebum) causing your scalp and hair to become dry. Your dry scalp now tries to compensate by producing more of its natural oil. Excess oil production escalates to compensate for the harsh shampoo and the vicious cycle begins….
By breaking this cycle with a gentle natural SOAP shampoo bar (not detergent) you will no longer have those chemicals stripping away the natural oils and drying out the hair and scalp. But it will take time for your scalp to re-balance its natural oil production. This usually happens quickly, but it can take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks and for some even longer. BE PATIENT and you will be rewarded with healthier hair and scalp.
Because shampoo bar soaps do not strip hair in the same way as detergent based shampoos, you may notice your freshly washed wet hair feels quite different to what you may be accustomed to: squeaky, with a slightly rough feel if the cuticle is sticking up. This is perfectly normal, and the Tasmanian Apple Cider & Herb Conditioning Rinse or Apple Silk Clarifying Rinse can be used to smooth the cuticles flat and shiny again. You’ll love how your hair feels after it dries: much softer and shinier.
Remember with a natural Shampoo – IT’S ALL GOOD IN THE END!!!
