Meet Jodie – “I can always tell if I’ve used my Ecology Moisturiser under my makeup as it looks so much more dewy”

Jodie needed an ‘all-rounder’ moisturiser for herself and her family that both that suited her dry skin (and didn’t leave makeup looking cakey) and also suited her families different skin issues.
Over 5 years ago now, Jodie found Ecology Skincare – it fitted in with her want to use clean, natural products for herself and her family and left her skin looking dewy under makeup.
She hasn’t looked back since!
Here’s Jodie’s story…
“I’m a big believer in using the cleanest skin care on our largest organ. I have three daughters and really want them to learn just how important that what they use on their skin can have a big impact on the health of their bodies.
Every single person in our family has had different requirements for what they need for skincare. So I was trying to find something that was an organic, clean ‘all rounder’. This fit the bill!
My skin was / is ageing. It felt crepey and dry. Cheaper moisturiser just seemed to sit on my skin and didn’t help. My makeup would sit on dry skin and make me look even older than I was. I did not feel great about myself.
As soon as I applied an Ecology Moisturiser, my skin just drank it in!
I had read that beef tallow is similar to the composition of human sebum and my skin proved this to be true!
I can always tell if I’ve used my Ecology Moisturiser under my makeup as it looks so much more dewy. I haven’t yet found an Ecology Moisturiser I didn’t like, so I can’t pick a favourite.
My morning routine is to first cleanse, then vitamin c serum, Ecology Moisturiser and sunscreen. My evening routine is to cleanse, then moisturise with my Ecology Moisturiser.
I have been purchasing Ecology Skincare for a few years now, with no plans of stopping.

Now you might be wondering why the Ecology Creams work so well under makeup for ageing skin…?
Our Ecology Creams are handmade with a little known ingredient called grass-fed tallow.
Grass-fed tallow is a gently rendered fat (like emu oil), but it comes from healthy, grass-fed cows
(so this isn’t for our vegan friends!)
Grass-fed tallow might be ‘little known’ now… but everyone from the Aboriginal Australians to our great grandmothers used to use traditional animal fats like tallow, for everything from burns and chafing to blisters and wound healing.
And the reason why grass-fed tallow is good for skin?
- It contains the same kinds of fats and oils found naturally in healthy skin.
- It contains fat soluble vitamins A, D, E & K …all of which are crucial for healthy skin (some of these are also antioxidants)
- It’s balanced in omega 3’s and 6’s …both are important for healthy skin
So this means grass-fed tallow can help replace missing lipids (the natural fats and oils) in skin’s outer layer …keeping moisture IN and allergens and irritants OUT.
…and helping to soften dry and redness prone skin and leave it looking plump and well hydrated.
Not only that, as we get older our skin produces less of those lipids (the fats and oils) that keep it soft, supple and healthy looking – so grass-fed tallow helps to replace those missing fats and oils.
So why is it the big brand moisturisers fail to really nourish super dry skin?
It’s because big brand moisturisers are typically 50-80% water (or aqua)
Take a look and you’ll see water as a first ingredient in many of these products.
But this means, there’s only 20-50% left for the skin nourishing ingredients.
Compare this to the Ecology Moisturisers – they’re are 100% natural fats and oils (no water), so they’re highly concentrated to better soften skin and smooth fine lines.

We’ve also had good feedback from other customers (like Jodie) who’ve used Ecology Creams to help hydrate dry skin and leave skin looking soft, smooth and dewy.
The Daily Moisturisers contain camellia and frankincense to help soften and smooth skin of all ages. And frankincense is also known for helping to soften the look of scars and fine lines.
The Daily Moisturiser with Ylang Ylang is lighter in texture than our other Ecology Creams. It contains camellia, kakadu plum and frankincense to soft, plump and hydrated looking skin and it has a delightful floral aroma.
And the hemp seed oil in the Daily Moisturiser with Hemp and Nerolina is known for helping to protect dry, tired or dehydrated skin and soften and smooth skin. This moisturiser is also lighter in texture and is helpful for balancing oil on skin and it contains nerolina and the lemon scented tea tree oil which can be helpful for protecting against signs of breakouts.
The Daily Moisturiser with Hemp and Vanilla is very similar to the Replenishing Cream for sensitive skin. It has the same mild vanilla aroma, but this one is our lightest cream for richness and feel. So it’s perfect for sensitive skin. (this Daily Moisturiser doesn’t contain frankincense)
And the Revitalising Cream is in the middle of our range for richness. And it contains manuka and kanuka oils helpful for reducing the look of redness and breakouts. It has a mild herbal aroma.
