Meet Amber – “My skin has always been thirsty… now my skin feels dewy, hydrated, protected and nourished”

Amber’s autoimmune condition can drive skin flare-ups when she’s unwell or stressed, so a rich but calming and soothing cream is a must for her thirsty skin.
Amber experimented with a lot of different moisturising products that seemed to sit on her skin without really nurturing it.
As well as many different types of tallow moisturisers, balms, oils and she says that her Ecology Creams ‘win hands down’.
Here’s Amber’s story…
“I’ve been using Ecology creams for over a year now and I will never stop using them!
I’m 43yrs old, with numerous autoimmune and immune deficiency issues. I’ve suffered with psoriasis and dermatitis since my early teens and it always flares when I’m unwell or my body is stressed. I also inherited my Nana’s pale, extremely dry skin. It was a blessing during adolescence when the acne/pimple stage seemed to overlook me, but it does pave the way to a face more like a city road map of crinkles and sun spots in older years.
My skin has always been thirsty. The thicker the better was my motto as far as face creams went, and oils were a godsend.
I tried high end pharmaceutical and beauty brands, all the way down to herbal and homeopathic options. But none of them felt anything more than a superficial barrier. A slick of moisture on top of my skin, that never actually penetrated my skin. Each morning and night (and sometimes just a short while after applying the moisturiser) it would feel dry and thirsty all over again.
I saw Ecology advertised on Facebook and figured it was worth a try. It was my first encounter with tallow. I started with the sample set as I had no idea what I needed or which scents I would like. Turns out my favourite scent is the Hemp and Nerolina Daily Moisturiser and my favourite actual moisturiser is the Rejuvenating Jojoba and Kanuka Day and Night cream for its richness and the way it soothes my skin.
Around the time I tried Ecology I was also testing out other tallow based moisturisers. Mostly Australian companies, small batch, some that are viral across social media. Everything from straight up plain tallow, to tallow oils, balms and whipped creams, to blends both with and without essential oils or other ingredients. I’ve even had a crack at making my own (trying to emulate Crystal’s magic) without much success.
Ecology has won hands down on every score board. The range of creams is extensive in richness and scent, there’s something for everyone. There’s no hint of a beefy tallow smell. Some I’ve tried made me smell like an industrial kitchen. The cost is comparable to others on the market and with a subscription is highly competitive.
I was one of the testers for the Summer Dream Creams but had a reaction to the raspberry seed in that formula. Crystal was extremely helpful with her advice and support and my skin thrived back on the Rejuvenating cream.
That brings me to the new Winter Hydrating Dream Cream in the Winter Bloom scent. My goodness me I am in love!!!!
It is now my second favourite scent (Hemp and Nerolina still takes the cake for me), but this dream cream is like velvet. It is rich and dense, without being heavy at all.
My skin soaks it up, and first thing in the morning, or at the end of a day out in the winter winds and chill, my skin still feels dewy and hydrated. Sitting on the sideline of a soccer field in temps around 2degrees, with the sun shining and wind blowing, my skin feels protected and nourished.
I’d love for the winter dream cream to be added to the core product range so I could get my hands on it all year round!”

And the reason why grass-fed tallow is good for skin?
- It contains the same kinds of fats and oils found naturally in healthy skin.
- It contains fat soluble vitamins A, D, E & K …all of which are crucial for healthy skin (some of these are also antioxidants)
- It’s balanced in omega 3’s and 6’s …both are important for healthy skin
So this means grass-fed tallow can help replace missing lipids (the natural fats and oils) in skin’s outer layer …keeping moisture IN and allergens and irritants OUT.
…and helping to soften super dry and redness prone skin and leave it looking plump and well hydrated.
Not only that, as we get older our skin produces less of those lipids (the fats and oils) that keep it soft, supple and healthy looking – so grass-fed tallow helps to replace those missing fats and oils.
So why is it the big brand moisturisers fail to really nourish super dry skin?
It’s because big brand moisturisers are typically 50-80% water (or aqua)
Take a look and you’ll see water as a first ingredient in many of these products.
But this means, there’s only 20-50% left for the skin nourishing ingredients.
Compare this to the Ecology Moisturisers – they’re are 100% natural fats and oils (no water), so they’re highly concentrated to better soften skin and smooth fine lines.

We’ve also had good feedback from other customers (like Amber) who’ve used Ecology Creams to help hydrate dry skin and leave skin looking soft, smooth and dewy.
The Rejuvenating Cream is ultra rich and contains kanuka oil (which is in the same family as manuka oil and tea tree). Kanuka oil well known for helping reduce redness and easily irritated skin.
The Daily Moisturiser with Hemp and Nerolina is lighter in texture than Amber’s other loves. It contains camellia and hemp seed oil is known for helping to protect dry, tired or dehydrated skin and soften and smooth skin. This moisturiser is helpful for balancing oil on skin and it contains nerolina and the lemon scented tea tree oil which can be helpful for protecting against signs of breakouts.
