We wanted to bring the essence of winter into your skincare routine and give your skin and mood what you need, when you need it.

With it’s shorter days and colder temperatures, winter can be a time for hibernation, rest and reflection. It’s a season that encourages us to slow down, nurture ourselves and to seek out the cozy and comforting.

Winter can also be particularly harsh and challenging for our skin…

With this in mind, we spent hours carefully selecting and sourcing high quality antioxidant-rich ingredients to feel rich and protective on the skin to hydrate and rejuvenate the look of dry, dull skin and to comfort your senses too

And like soft powdery snow settling on a dormant garden, this luxurious cream will be limited to the season of winter – here today, gone tomorrow.

The Winter Bloom contains essential oils of rose geranium, lavender, frankincense and sweet orange and to this we’ve added a smidge of vanilla fruit extract – so the Winter Bloom has a warm, floral aroma with an uplifting hint of citrus

The Winter Delicate does not contain any essential oils.
This is not to say it doesn’t have a distinct aroma – any natural product without masking agents has the natural aroma of the ingredients in the product. And the antioxidant-rich rosehip seed extract we’ve chosen has a kind of earthy, grassy hay-type aroma.

To this we’ve added a small amount of vanilla fruit extract, so the Winter Delicate has a mild grassy-hay aroma with a sweet hint of vanilla.

Grass-fed Beef Tallow**, Jojoba Oil*, Emu Oil, Rosehip Seed Extract*, Pomegranate Seed Extract*, Natural Tocopherol (Vitamin E)^, Rose Geranium Oil, Lavender Oil, Frankincense Oil, Sweet Orange Oil, Vanilla Fruit Extract*, Rosemary Leaf Extract* *Organic **Free range, Pasture raised, No antibiotics, No added hormones ^Natural soy free, GMO free distillate from whole oil containing tocopherols, plant sterols, squalene and monoglycerides

The Ecology Moisturisers are beautifully rich, so you'll find a little goes a long way!
  • The trick is to use only a small amount and warm it between your fingers or palms
  • Moisturising damp skin is best to lock in moisture on the surface of skin
  • Pat lightly onto the whole area of damp skin that you want to moisturise, then gently massage in
  • The moisturising creams will melt nicely when you rub them between your fingers or palms (so don't skip this step!)
  • Your cream will absorb easily into your skin and skin should not feel greasy after moisturising If it does - you are using too much. Try using less and patting your skin before massaging into skin
  • Can be used on your face, body, hands, feet - anywhere that needs moisturising

Made with nutrient-dense, antioxidant-rich ingredients

Tallow from Grass-fed Cows

Grass-fed tallow deeply moisturises and softens skin. It's ultra rich in the same kinds of healthy fats and lipids found naturally in healthy looking skin, contains Vitamins A, D, E, & K and is balanced in essential fatty acids.

Our tallow comes from 100% grass-fed, free range - never confined to feedlot - pasture raised cows. No antibiotics ever and no added hormones or growth promotants

Organic Rosehip Seed Extract

We chose Rosehip Seed Extract for this cream because it's deeply moisturising and hydrating for dry, mature and sun damaged skin. It contains skin-nourishing Vitamins A & E and essential fatty acids, plus carotenoids to help protect skin from environmental stressors. And it's been shown to support skin elasticity, brighten look of dull skin, improve natural skin colour and even skin tone.

Organic Pomegranate Seed Extract

We chose Pomegranate Seed Extract for this cream because it's soothing and restorative for dry, cracked, mature and easily irritated or sensitive skin. Pomegranate seed oil contains an unusually high amount of highly-nourishing omega-5 punicic acid which gives this oil a rich, luxuriously protective feel on the skin. It also contains skin-nourishing antioxidants, polyphenols and phytosterols to protect and repair skin's barrier function, support skin's elasticity and soften the look of sun damaged and wind chapped skin.

Emu Oil

We chose Emu Oil for this cream because it's an essential ingredient in our much-loved Replenishing Cream. Emu oil contains the same kinds of fatty acids and lipids found in healthy skin. It's rich in omega-9 oleic acid and palmitic acid for softening, smoothing and soothing sensitive skin. It also contains essential fatty acids and fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E and K2 needed for healthy looking skin.

Here's what our willing human testers are saying about these new Dream Creams...

Celeste, pre-launch tester

A treat for my skin in a harsh winter. My skin was starting to dry out coming into winter. We have had sub zero mornings, odd for Brisbane These creams have held up beautifully. My skin is vibrant and soft. Highly recommend

Michelle, pre-launch tester

Hi Crystal, I really wished I had taken a before pic. I have really noticed a brightness and suppleness of my skin , friends have made positive comments on how good my skin looks . Also the sunspots on the back of my hands and face are fading . The creaminess of the product is lovely and is absorbed so easily without feeling cloying. I tell everyone what I'm using and have done so from the very first cream I purchased. I have loved the ease of application.

Debbie, pre-launch tester

Loved the fragrance and my skin felt so soft and smooth. A nice glow that seemed to last all day. Perfect for my mature skin. I had a young 20ish girl comment on my beautiful skin. That bought a smile to my face. Thank you so much.

Linda, pre-launch tester

My skin felt hydrated and supple. I loved that they are not too oily and have that soft scent of a bouquet of flowers. My skin feels so soft and hydrated.

Michelle, pre-launch tester

The feeling was slightly thicker than the Autumn batches, rich, moisturing. My skin felt moist, smooth and grateful :)
All three creams felt great on my skin. My arms particularly get dry in the winter and my skin just soaked up all the goodness (extra attention to my elbows!).

Jemma, pre-launch tester

The feel of the creams is smooth as they sink in, my face definitely likes to drink them in. My days are mostly indoors so the air conditioning plays a larger factor than the wind, I fond the air conditioning on my workplace can be quite drying, so my evening cream time feels more hydrating or needed than morning.

Susan, pre-launch tester

I loved the richness of the creams. My skin felt, & looked, much plumper & soft. I was surprised by how wonderful & rich I felt the samples all were..they really made my skin feel moisturised & it just looked plumper/healthier. Fine lines & sun spots are much less evident too.

Tan, pre-launch tester

I absolutely loved Winter Bloom - I don’t have much left in the tin! It was just a beautiful, light fragrance that felt luxurious on my skin.

Maria, pre-launch tester

My skin is combination with some areas dry and flaky and after applying the creams feels soft and stays hydrated

SLP, pre-launch tester

I was surprised by how wonderful & rich I felt the samples all were..they really made my skin feel moisturised & it just looked plumper/healthier. Fine lines & sun spots are much less evident too. I’ve had a love affair with geranium oil for many years. This cream smells like magic to me and immediately makes me feel so happy so massaging that in is simply a pleasure

Debbie, pre-launch tester

Feels luxurious and super hydrated.

Karen, pre-launch tester

They feel hydrating and absorbed by my skin readily leaving it soft & dewy without any feeling of heaviness or residue. I live in a very cold zone and this winter blend will be great for my skin. I've finished all the samples & can't wait to get my large tin.

Kathy, pre-launch tester

Smooth. Even though the weather is cooler the creams are easily absorbed. My skin isn’t dry even though I’ve been out in the wind. I wondered if the winter cream would be heavier but it absorbed well and my skin felt nourished.

Susan, pre-launch tester

Thanks for the opportunity to be a tester! 🌻 Loving all the ecology creams to date (& I have tried all!) I was surprised by how wonderful & rich I felt the samples all were..they really made my skin feel moisturised & it just looked plumper/healthier. Fine lines & sun spots are much less evident too.
The aromas of all 3 are lovely. So fresh & they linger too.

Shell, pre-launch tester

I loved that creams felt extra creamy without being cloying and easily absorbed, the fragrances are just right some days I would have liked them a little stronger but that's personal preference. Winter Bloom reminded me of the gum trees just before it rains.

Marg, pre-launch tester

Very smooth to apply & felt lovely on my skin. Happy with the appearance of my skin. Aromas not overpowering but calming.

Belle, pre-launch tester

They were all lovely to apply. Went onto and into my skin easily and took the dryness and tightness away instantly. My skin always feels supple when I've applied the creams and it lasts all day. The aromas are very subtle which I like for my sensitive mature skin. I have found my skin is in much better condition since I started using Ecology creams. I also use on my hands and feet as I live near the beach and am always walking barefoot on the sand which I find dries my heels out in particular. Love the feel of these creams on my skin

FAQ

We formulated these Dream Creams with winter in mind - from the richness of the cream, to the high quality oils and extracts we selected, to the aroma blend.

So like soft powdery snow settling on a dormant garden, these creams will be here for the season of winter then gone.

If you like them and can't live without them, let us know and we'll take this into consideration for future decisions and formulations.

The organic rosehip seed extract we've sourced is extracted using supercritical volcanically sourced CO2. This is a step up from cold pressing as it ensures a more stable end product and more bioactive components are present - including carotenoids - as seen by it's vibrant colour and potent aroma.

The high level of carotenoids in this organic rosehip seed extract gives the Hydrating Dream Cream it's beautiful yellow colour.

Yes, this cream contains essential oils of rose geranium, lavender, frankincense and sweet orange and to this we've added a smidge of vanilla fruit extract - so the Winter Bloom has a warm, floral aroma with an uplifting hint of citrus

Both Winter limited edition blends contain our hero ingredients - grass-fed tallow, emu oil and organic jojoba oil along with a high quality and potent organic rosehip seed extract and pomegranate seed extract.

The Winter Bloom contains essential oils of rose geranium, lavender, frankincense and sweet orange and to this we've added a smidge of vanilla fruit extract - so the Winter Bloom has a warm, floral aroma with an uplifting hint of citrus

The Winter Delicate does not contain any essential oils.
This is not to say it doesn't have a distinct aroma - any natural product without masking agents has the natural aroma of the ingredients in the product. And the antioxidant-rich rosehip seed extract we've chosen has a kind of earthy, grassy hay-type aroma.

To this we've added a small amount of vanilla fruit extract, so the Winter Delicate has a mild grassy-hay aroma with a sweet hint of vanilla.

We formulated these creams with Winter in mind - so they are amongst the richest creams we make.

Interestingly, these Winter Edition Dream Creams have more tallow than our original creams and more emu oil than our Replenishing Cream - but they don't feel as 'heavy' on the skin due to the velvety feel of the rosehip seed extract and luxurious feel of the pomegranate seed extract.

These creams will be richer in texture and feel than our our Spring Limited Edition, green Revitalising Cream, yellow Soothing Baby Cream, Daily Moisturisers and Summer Limited Edition.

Anyone with dry, mature skin or skin that's prone to being wind chapped or easily irritated. Anyone with skin that's prone to dullness, sun damage or sun spots. And anyone with skin that suffers in the winter.

Yes! ...these creams can be used on the face, hands, arms, legs - anywhere that needs moisturising and some TLC.

The short answer is that context and processing matter in the question of "are all seed oils bad for you?"

The main reasons people avoid seed oils are concerns around the high heat industrial processing that strips nutrients and antioxidants from the oils and leaves them more prone to oxidation, plus a higher ratio of omega 6's vs. omega 3's.

And we get it! ...we also avoid consuming seed oils in our diet and have done for the last 12+ years.

But the seed oils used in cosmetics are different to the industrialised seed oils that are mass produced for the food industry - so you can’t tar them with the same brush.

The seed oils used in cosmetics and in our creams are typically organic and cold pressed, so they’re not subjected to the same high heat, solvent extraction as mass produced seed oils for the food industry.

One critical outcome of this difference in processing is that cold-pressed and CO2 extracted seed oils retain all of their vitamins and antioxidants that normally get stripped out with industrialised processing.

For example - sunflower is naturally high in Vitamin E and cold pressed sunflower oil contains relatively high amounts of Vitamin E which helps to prevent oxidation of the more fragile elements in cold-pressed sunflower oil.

(and of course one of the major concerns with industrialised seed oils is around oxidation of the omega 6's - a very real concern when this Vitamin E is stripped out - but not as much of a concern with cold pressed seed oils that retain their natural antioxidants)

And the Rosehip Seed Extract we've chosen for these Dream Creams is extracted using supercritical volcanically sourced CO2. This is a step up from cold pressing as it ensures a more stable end product and more bioactive components are present - including carotenoids and other antioxidants.

Meadowfoam Seed Oil is also an excellent example of not taring all seed oils with the same brush. Meadowfoam seed oil actually contains over 96% very-long chain fatty acids, which means it's more stable and resistant to oxidation than most oils available for skincare.

This context and processing matters.
I would definitely avoid putting highly processed, industrialised seed oils on my skin, but cold pressed seed oils are beneficial for skin when balanced with healthy fats, lipids and other fatty acids.

Here's why - Omega 6's are actually critical for our skin health (especially linoleic acid and gamma linoleic acid)

Without linoleic acid our skin would become thick, scaly, rash and our skin barrier function would be seriously compromised. Omega 6's make up an essential part of ceramides - one of the 3 main components of a healthy skin barrier alongside fatty acids and cholesterol.

And it's always important to remember the balance - omega 6's are only bad when they are extremely overbalancing omega 3's.

Omega 3's, 6's and 9's should not be avoided on the skin as they are all critical for healthy skin, especially in conjunction with the other fatty acids and cholesterol found in grass-fed tallow.

In addition to all of this - when we apply products containing omega 6's on our skin, they're not going through first pass metabolism in the liver and being turned into the more inflammatory arachidonic acid.

And lastly - all well formulated products containing plant oils, butters and essential oils should contain an antioxidant to protect the oils from oxidation and our creams are no different. We formulate all of our creams with either a rosemary leaf extract or Tocopherol (Vitamin E) that acts as an antioxidant.
