  • Softens, smooths and hydrates skin
  • Locks in moisture by supporting and restoring skin’s barrier function
  • Plumps and rejuvenates the look of mature skin
  • Softens the look of sun damaged skin and sun spots
  • Brightens the look of dull skin

We wanted to bring the essence of autumn into your skincare routine and give your skin and mood what you need, when you need it.

Autumn is a time of reflection, transition and change and we turn more to the cozy and comfy as the weather cools…

With this in mind, we spent hours carefully selecting and sourcing high quality antioxidant-rich ingredients to feel rich and protective on the skin to hydrate and rejuvenate the look of dry, dull skin and to comfort your senses with a cozy, spicy aroma

And like spiced hot cross buns and chocolate bunnies, these luxurious creams will be limited to the season of autumn – here today, gone tomorrow.

The Autumn Spice contains essential oils of sweet orange and cedarwood atlas and to this we’ve added a cardamom extract and a vanilla fruit extract – so the Autumn Spice has a warm, spicy aroma.

The Autumn Delicate does not contain any essential oils.
This is not to say it doesn’t have a distinct aroma – any natural product without masking agents has the natural aroma of the ingredients in the product. And the antioxidant-rich rosehip seed extract we’ve chosen has a kind of earthy, grassy hay-type aroma.

To this we’ve added a cocoa extract and a vanilla fruit extract, so the Autumn Delicate has a mild warm, earthy cocoa aroma.

Some of our pre-launch trialists used the Autumn Spice to uplift in the morning and the Autumn Delicate to ground in the evening and others used the Autumn Spice on their face and Autumn Delicate on their body

The Ecology Moisturisers are beautifully rich, so you'll find a little goes a long way!
  • The trick is to use only a small amount and warm it between your fingers or palms
  • Moisturising damp skin is best to lock in moisture on the surface of skin
  • Pat lightly onto the whole area of damp skin that you want to moisturise, then gently massage in
  • The moisturising creams will melt nicely when you rub them between your fingers or palms (so don't skip this step!)
  • Your cream will absorb easily into your skin and skin should not feel greasy after moisturising If it does - you are using too much. Try using less and patting your skin before massaging into skin
  • Can be used on your face, body, hands, feet - anywhere that needs moisturising

Made with nutrient-dense, antioxidant-rich ingredients

Tallow from Grass-fed Cows

Grass-fed tallow deeply moisturises and softens skin. It's ultra rich in the same kinds of healthy fats and lipids found naturally in healthy looking skin, contains Vitamins A, D, E, & K and is balanced in essential fatty acids.

Our tallow comes from 100% grass-fed, free range - never confined to feedlot - pasture raised cows. No antibiotics ever and no added hormones or growth promotants

Organic Rosehip Seed Extract

We chose Rosehip Seed Extract for this cream because it's deeply moisturising and hydrating for dry, mature and sun damaged skin. It contains skin-nourishing Vitamins A & E and essential fatty acids, plus carotenoids to help protect skin from environmental stressors. And it's been shown to support skin elasticity, brighten look of dull skin, improve natural skin colour and even skin tone.

Organic Avocado Oil

We chose Avocado Oil because it's soothing and protective for dry, dehydrated, damaged, rough, flaky and mature skin. Avocado oil contains an unusually high amount of skin-nourishing omega 7 - a fatty acid found naturally in skin, but one that reduces with age. Avocado oil also contains Vitamins A, D, E and phytosterols to protect and repair skin's barrier function and the look of sun damaged skin. And It's been shown to be helpful for itchy, easily irritated and wind chapped skin and supporting skin elasticity.

Meadowfoam Seed Oil

We chose Meadowfoam Oil because it's deeply moisturising, hydrating and protective for dry skin and cracked lips. Meadowfoam Seed Oil contains Vitamin E and an unusually high amount of very-long chain fatty acids (around 96% of its makeup), which makes this oil exceptionally protective for skin's barrier function, locking in moisture and preventing dry skin. And it's shown to be particularly supportive for softening and smoothing skin as the weather cools and air becomes drier.

Rich and creamy...deeply penetrative and long lasting nourishment.

Doranne, pre-launch tester

The creams make my skin feel soft and hydrated. I have sun spots on my hands and face from years of sun damage and dry spots on my face and keeping up with the moisturisers makes my skin feel so much softer. In the past, in our hot humid weather, I haven't been able to moisturise much as moisturising has made my skin feel sticky and sweaty, but your creams seem to soak in and they don't feel like that.

Carolyn, pre-launch tester

Silky and unctuous..they felt ..generous. I used them after morning cleansing and they sank right in like my skin drank them, with a slight residue that wasn't really visible but I could feel it when I touched my skin . Otherwise they were weightless.

Anna, pre-launch tester

Nourishing, dewy, moistened.

Lorraine, pre-launch tester

It has a lovely soft silky feel and absorbs into the skin easily. My skin felt softer and the lines looked a bit smoother. My hands felt softer and much less dry and cracked... I loved the lightness and silkiness of them. I loved how they absorbed into my skin and left it feeling moisturised, but not sticky or greasy. I liked the scent.

Dianne, pre-launch tester

I love how a little bit goes a long way. They spread so smoothly and absorb into the skin. They are light and hydrating.

Jacqui, pre-launch tester

They left my skin feeling silky smooth and they smoothed out rough and dry areas.

Debbie, pre-launch tester

I loved the chocolate like smell.

Laurel, pre-launch tester

Love the Autumn Spice, it felt light after a few minutes, it smelt fresh and my skin looked glowing when I was wearing it.

Bibiana, pre-launch tester

Texture was perfect for what my skin needed. Not too light, not too heavy. It made my skin feel velvety..

Jordana, pre-launch tester

my skin felt supple and moisturised at a deep level... gave my skin a nice sheen/glow

Bec, pre-launch tester

They were so silky soft and went on like a dream... I can't handle many scents especially on my face. This was a nice hint but didn't linger and upset me at all. It was lovely

Yvette, pre-launch tester

Omg, I loved it! Really enjoyed using it. Couldn't tell the difference between the performance of the two creams, so this would be the one I would buy again (a lot). My décolleté looks so much better and my face has a 'dewy' glow (as described to me!). I love the idea that I am using a natural product that is not mainly water. I love supporting a family business with such an enthusiastic owner! Go Crystal!

Michelle, pre-launch tester

had a warm, rich scent of cocoa with undertones of vanilla. Perfect for use on the dry skin on my arms.

Kim, pre-launch tester

Ultra-moisturising, the lines in my face are softened, and my neck has lost some of its creepiness

Michelle, pre-launch tester

I loved the scent of Autumn Spice. It was citrusy, without being too zingy, but also had a warm scent. It was great on my face and neck - light, absorbed well leaving my skin glowing and healthy. I liked the scent of Autumn Delicate a lot on my body, but it was maybe not my favourite for my face. Both of the creams minimised any fine lines especially around the eye area and made my skin feel dewy and glowing.

Yvonne, pre-launch tester

The buttery softness of the creams and the ease of using a small amount to cover the skin. Retained moisture throughout the day without heavy greasy feel. My skin has begun to feel a little firmer too. Definitely my favourite ecology creams yet!!

Daniela, pre-launch tester

I loved the Autumn Spice. It smelled like fresh herbs and was light and easy to apply, and absorbed nicely. My favourite so far!

FAQ

We formulated these Dream Creams with autumn (and Easter) in mind - from the richness of the cream, to the high quality oils and extracts we selected, to the aroma blend.

So like a hot cross bun or a chocolate bunny, these creams will be here for the season of autumn then gone.

If you like them and can't live without them, let us know and we'll take this into consideration for future decisions and formulations.

The organic rosehip seed extract we've sourced is extracted using supercritical volcanically sourced CO2. This is a step up from cold pressing as it ensures a more stable end product and more bioactive components are present - including carotenoids - as seen by it's vibrant colour and potent aroma.

The high level of carotenoids in this organic rosehip seed extract gives the Hydrating Dream Cream it's autumnal yellow colour.

The Hydrating Dream Cream Autumn Spice (the orange one) contains a blend of essential oils and a plant extract that gives it its warm spicy aroma.

And the Hydrating Dream Cream Autumn Delicate (the white one) does not contain essential oils. This does not mean that it doesn't have an aroma.

Any natural product without masking agents has the natural aroma of the ingredients in the product. And the nutrient-dense rosehip seed extract we've chosen has a kind of earthy, grassy, cold tea aroma. Some think it smells like hay or straw and others think it smells like an earthy, floral cold tea.

We've also added a smidge of cocoa extract and vanilla fruit extract to the Autumn Delicate, so it has a warm earthy, cocoa aroma.

Both Autumn limited edition blends contain our hero ingredients - grass-fed tallow and organic jojoba oil along with a high quality and potent organic rosehip seed extract, an organic avocado oil and meadow foam seed oil.

The Autumn Spice contains essential oils of sweet orange and cedarwood atlas and to this we've added a cardamom extract and a vanilla fruit extract - so the Autumn Spice has a warm, spicy aroma.

The Autumn Delicate does not contain any essential oils.
But to this one we have added a smidge of cocoa extract and vanilla fruit extract - so the Autumn Delicate has a warm earthy, cocoa aroma.

We formulated these creams with Autumn in mind - so they are in the middle of our range for richness. They're not our richest creams or our lightest creams.

They will be lighter in texture and feel than our blue Replenishing Cream and orange Rejuvenating Cream.

They will feel the more similar, but maybe slightly richer than our Spring Limited Edition, green Revitalising Cream and yellow Soothing Baby Cream.

And they will be richer in texture and feel than our Daily Moisturisers and Summer Limited Edition

Anyone with dry, mature skin that suffers in the autumn, or is prone to dullness, sun damage or sun spots

Yes! ...these creams can be used on the face, hands, arms, legs - anywhere that needs moisturising and some TLC.

In fact, quite a few of our willing human testers commented that they preferred the Autumn Spice for their face and Autumn Delicate for their body

The short answer is that context and processing matter in the question of "are all seed oils bad for you?"

The main reasons people avoid seed oils are concerns around the high heat industrial processing that strips nutrients and antioxidants from the oils and leaves them more prone to oxidation, plus a higher ratio of omega 6's vs. omega 3's.

And we get it! ...we also avoid consuming seed oils in our diet and have done for the last 12+ years.

But the seed oils used in cosmetics are different to the industrialised seed oils that are mass produced for the food industry - so you can’t tar them with the same brush.

The seed oils used in cosmetics and in our creams are typically organic and cold pressed, so they’re not subjected to the same high heat, solvent extraction as mass produced seed oils for the food industry.

One critical outcome of this difference in processing is that cold-pressed and CO2 extracted seed oils retain all of their vitamins and antioxidants that normally get stripped out with industrialised processing.

For example - sunflower is naturally high in Vitamin E and cold pressed sunflower oil contains relatively high amounts of Vitamin E which helps to prevent oxidation of the more fragile elements in cold-pressed sunflower oil.

(and of course one of the major concerns with industrialised seed oils is around oxidation of the omega 6's - a very real concern when this Vitamin E is stripped out - but not as much of a concern with cold pressed seed oils that retain their natural antioxidants)

And the Rosehip Seed Extract we've chosen for these Dream Creams is extracted using supercritical volcanically sourced CO2. This is a step up from cold pressing as it ensures a more stable end product and more bioactive components are present - including carotenoids and other antioxidants.

Meadowfoam Seed Oil is also an excellent example of not taring all seed oils with the same brush. Meadowfoam seed oil actually contains over 96% very-long chain fatty acids, which means it's more stable and resistant to oxidation than most oils available for skincare.

This context and processing matters.
I would definitely avoid putting highly processed, industrialised seed oils on my skin, but cold pressed seed oils are beneficial for skin when balanced with healthy fats, lipids and other fatty acids.

Here's why - Omega 6's are actually critical for our skin health (especially linoleic acid and gamma linoleic acid)

Without linoleic acid our skin would become thick, scaly, rash and our skin barrier function would be seriously compromised. Omega 6's make up an essential part of ceramides - one of the 3 main components of a healthy skin barrier alongside fatty acids and cholesterol.

And it's always important to remember the balance - omega 6's are only bad when they are extremely overbalancing omega 3's.

Omega 3's, 6's and 9's should not be avoided on the skin as they are all critical for healthy skin, especially in conjunction with the other fatty acids and cholesterol found in grass-fed tallow.

In addition to all of this - when we apply products containing omega 6's on our skin, they're not going through first pass metabolism in the liver and being turned into the more inflammatory arachidonic acid.

And lastly - all well formulated products containing plant oils, butters and essential oils should contain an antioxidant to protect the oils from oxidation and our creams are no different. We formulate all of our creams with either a rosemary leaf extract or Tocopherol (Vitamin E) that acts as an antioxidant.
